EditLog
MenuFile->NewFile->OpenOpens a window allowing you to chose the date for the log you wish to edit.
File->SaveAllows you to save any changes made to the log. This will overwrite the previously saved log. You
cannot undo a save.
File->Save AsFile->Lock / UnlockThe Lock/Unlock system is where you finalize the log before sending it to the automation system. When you have made all the changes necessarily for that day's log, click the LOCK button to save and export the log to your automation system. If for any reason you need to make changes to that log, you will need to UNLOCK the log before making changes and then re-LOCK it to send the updated version to your automation.
The logs must be locked or unlocked in chronological order.
File->Begin ReconciliationLog reconcilation must be done before you print your invoices. Radio Traffic suggestion is that you do your reconciliation several times during the month prior to billing. Pick the station you want to begin your reconciliation for. Pick the starting day of the month whether that is broadcast or calendar. Select File, Select Begin Reconciliation. You might have the automatic reconciliation process set up depending on what type of Automation System you have. If you don't have automatic reconciliation then after you have select Begin Reconciliation, make any changes necessary for when spots didn't run (for ex: if they did not run on that day's log then uncheck the check box so the client will not get billed for something that didn't run. If everything ran correctly then you can commit your reconciliation by Selecting File, Commit Reconciliation. This will start invoicing these spots from this log onto an invoice in A/R. After all logs have been reconcialed for the month then you will be ready to print invoices.
See
How-To: Log Reconciliation.
File->ReverseFile->ExportTo export your log from RadioTraffic to your automation system, you will first need to set up the export path. Go to the Administration program and choose the Stations module. Click the Files tab.
Select your automation system. Then place the path where your export needs to be placed and where RadioTraffic is to find the aired log for reconciliation.
Open your log module and edit your log. When you lock the log, RadioTraffic will automatically export the log to the location chosen in your export path.
File->PrintPrints the log. The way RadioTraffic places spots on the log, cart assignments are not made until the log has been locked for the day. If you need to print a log with the cart numbers on it, you will have to lock the log before printing.
File->Print PreviewOn screen preview of the printed log. Will not show cart numbers unless the log has been locked.
Tools->OptionsChange the settings of the log.
Options->GeneralGives you the chance to turn on options to:
- Allow Automatic scrolling of the log during drag/drop operations
- Print one hour of the log per printed page
- Print bonus spots on After Aired log
- Print Sign On/Sign Off signature line
- Include priority codes on the printed log
- Include produce code on the printed log
- Print the log landscape instead of portrait
This section also allows you to change the font size on the printout.
Options->ColorsAllows you to set color codes for breaks and conflict codes.
Log->Expand AllExpands all spot breaks allowing you to see every spot contained in each.
Log->Collapse AllShows only the spot breaks and does not have individual spots visible.
Log->Write On SpotAllows you to add spots that were not on the originally scheduled log but aired during a playlist's day. Highlight the spot that needs to be placed and enter the time the spot aired.
Log->Automatic PlacementTries to place spots in the bump list on the log anywhere there is not a conflict.
Log->Bump All SpotsMoves all spots from the log to the bump list.
View->Missing Copy SummaryThe Missing Copy Summary will display any related orders that are placed on the log that are missing assigned copy.

If copy is missing, the log editor will be unable to associate a cart number when exporting the log to the automation system. Without a cart number, the automation system will be unable to air the spot.
View->Rotation AssignmentThe rotation assignment is a data window that cannot be accessed until you have locked the log for the day. Once you have locked the log, you will be able to access this data window.

This data window can be customized using SmartView. All the options will be available by default when the data window is opened. Your choices are Customer, Copy, Lines, Order #, Rotation Time and Start Time. This will allow you to see every commercial placed within the system, the time they are scheduled and the exact copy that will be attached to it.
The data from this window can be printed, shown on the screen via print preview or exported to a number of formats: Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, Adobe PDF, Microsoft Rich Text File Format, Text (Tab Delimited) or Web Page.
These options can be accessed via the FILE menu.
ToolbarLogYour log can be edited in a number of ways. While we're presenting this how-to, you will find that through time you'll develop your own system of doing the logs that is most comfortable for you.
When you open the log module, if you have more than one station you will need to choose a station before a log will load.

Once you've chosen your station, the log will appear. At this point, you should click on the "expand all" button to expand all of your spot breaks. This will show you any spots scheduled automatically by RadioTraffic.

Once all the breaks are expanded, you can either scroll through the log or click on an hour on the top bar of the log to reach an hour to begin editing.

The log will automatically load at midnight regardless of the hour you were working on when you last saved and closed the log.
First, place your bumped spots into the log. These are spots that RadioTraffic could not place because either they conflicted with a code or because it's a spots per week order and they're spots placed on other days.

Click and drag any spot from this list onto the main log into any open break. When you drag, you will see a little plus sign by the pointer. Drop it onto the line for the break to insert the spot into that break.

Once the spot is in the break, you can click and drag to move the spot around within the break.

This gives you flexibility to schedule spots in a certain order if you wish (i.e. move all 60s to the front of the break, etc.) You're not limited to where RadioTraffic places the commercials!
Try to place every spot that must be scheduled on that day.
You also have an option to automatically try to fill in from the bump list. To do this, right click on any spot in the bump list.

When you right click, you will see this menu:

You can view the order if you need to check the remaining length of the order, have RadioTraffic try to automatically place bumped spots (effective if you've moved other spots around in the log which has previously been auto scheduled) or trash (PERMANENTLY DELETE) the spot on the list.
Any bumped spot for the day not scheduled will move to the make goods list and will remain there until you schedule it or delete it. Remember that some orders will not have copy valid after the end of their flight date so that spot being available on the make good list after the end of the flight doesn't necessarily mean the spot can still be made up!

After filling in the bumped spots, try to place as many from your make good list. Use the same process as placing spots from the bump list.
Now, after you place all the bumps and make goods, you need to check to make sure there is no invalid copy for your log. If so, you won't be able to lock and export that day's log.

There are two kinds of invalid copy you could have on the log. Invalid rotation/copy means that either the rotation is out of date or that the time the spot is placed on the log is outside the times where that spot's rotation is valid.
No copy found means there's no copy rotation in place for that order.
You can right click on the copy to view the order (thus being able to add a rotation) or to remove the spot from the log (moving it to the bump list.)

Once you have placed your bumps, added make goods and cleared invalid copy, you're clear to save, lock and export your log. You do all of this with one click of the mouse.

When you click the lock button, RadioTraffic will save, lock and export the log (if you have set up the system to automatically export the log. This is set in the Administration > Stations > Files section of RadioTraffic.)
Congratulations! You've finished a day's log!
EditAltering the day's log
In addition to editing the log as it's created in your formats and templates, you can also make changes to the overall template of a day's log in addition to bumping spots.
If you need to add a break or make another kind of change to the overall format of the log, right click in the log section of the window.

The BUMP menu is used removing items from the breaks. You have the option of removing individual spots, spots from just that break or all spots.
It also gives you the option to bump just fill spots, just normal (scheduled) spots or make good spots.

The ADD option gives you the opportunity to add any element to the template that you could add from the templates editor in the administrator section of the program.
The MODIFY option allows you to edit any item on the log template. (I.E. change a break from 3 to 4 minutes, change 6 units to 8, etc.)
The REMOVE option allows you remove a break or other log element entirely.

The ADD TEMPLATE option allows you to add any template created in the Administration > Template section of the program. This is where you insert special templates for events like sports broadcasts.
Note: Once these templates have been inserted into the format, you CANNOT undo this change. If you right click on an individual spot, you will also have the option to VIEW ORDER.
EditSpecial Events/Holidays
When you have a special event like a sports broadcast, live remote or holiday, you may need to make changes to the format for a short time or one day. RadioTraffic allows you to make those changes without having to completely rework and resave your format.
To add a sporting broadcast or other event that is not the entire day long, create a template for the event in your Administration > Templates section as you would for a template to build a full 24 hour format. Make sure that you have something in the template at the very top of the template. (00:00:00) Save as a template.
For a holiday log that will preempt an entire day, make the template the same way you would build a 24 hour format but save it as a template.
To insert into the log, open the log for the day you need to place the special template. Right click anywhere in the log and you will get a list of options.

Chose Apply Template. That will bring up a second menu where you pick the template and the time of day you wish to start the template.

For a template to cover a full day, choose 00:00:00 as your template's start time. When you click OK this will apply the template. THERE IS NO UNDO OF THIS PROCESS. MAKE SURE YOU ARE APPLYING THE TEMPLATE AT THE CORRECT TIME.
All spots that have been placed in every break during the time preempted by the placed template will go to the bump list for placement in other breaks.
